Itaú will invest US $ 210 million in Bitcoin for Strategic Reserve

Banco Itaú announced an initial investment of US $ 210 million (about R $ 1.2 billion) for the creation of Oranje, a company dedicated to the accumulation of Bitcoin as a strategic reserve.

This new initiative follows Strategy’s model (formerly Microstrategy), the world of Michael Saylor, the world’s largest holder in the world. The news was revealed by Livecoins, who had access to the document detailing the project.

Itaú follows Strategy

Oranje will be the first public company in Latin America to focus exclusively on Bitcoin. The project seeks to create robust BTC treasury, expand the brand and offer a new investment model in Brazil. By the way, the goal is to reach a return of 45% in Bitcoin in the first year. This is if the business plan is successfully executed.

All operation will be led by Guilherme Gomes, former Swan Bitcoin, as CEO, and Guilherme Ferreira, from Bahema, as CFO. Governance will also be attended by influential names in the crypto universe, such as Eric Weiss and Fernando Ulrich.

Thus, Oranje aims to adopt resource raising strategies, such as issuing debts and selling stock, similar to microstrategy practices. In addition, the company promises tax and operational advantages to investors who want to expose themselves to Bitcoin directly, without intermediaries.

Oranje, a company created by Banco Itaú, is betting on Bitcoin’s growth as a strategic reserve asset. According to the company, the global adoption of Bitcoin is still low, with only 3% penetration, despite being a $ 2 trillion asset, the fifth largest in the world.

The company also cited the change in regulatory climate after the election of Donald Trump in the US as a positive factor for the crypto sector. In addition, Oranje follows Strategy’s strategy, which has been adopted by other companies in both the United States and globally.

Oranje has the support of big names, including Itaú BBA, Pinheiro Neto Advogados, Pillsbury and one of the four major audit companies (Deloitte, Ey, KPMG or PWC). The company believes that the “Bitcoin standard” is redefining the corporate treasury strategy, becoming a unique opportunity for the market.

Itaú released Solana USDC and XRP

Earlier this week, Itaú Unibanco added three new cryptors to the application: USDC, Solana (Sol) and Ripple (XRP). The initiative aims to further diversify the investment options in cryptocurrencies, expanding the bank’s digital portfolio.

The new tokens are negotiated in the same way as Bitcoin and Ethereum, which were already available. In addition, the institution promises a simple, intuitive process and carried out in a safe environment. The minimum amount for investment is $ 10.00, with a rate of 2.5% in purchase, without monthly fees or additional rates on sale.
